Ever wondered how to enjoy the great taste of a Sloppy Joe’s without making a whole mess, or enjoy it on the go? Then here we got a perfect solution for you. Sloppy to go!

First up put the ground beef, onions and garlic in a cold pan and turn it on medium high heat. Stir fry the beef until its heated through and then add the diced bell pepper. After a few minutes add all other ingredients and season to taste. Make sure to finely crumble the beef. In our opinion this is the most important step, it gives a certain texture to the taste. Cook it down until its sicking to the spatula. Now let it cool for better handling, at least for an hour.

Lets make some dough. This is an easy and basic yeast dough that you can use for almost anything. Mostly used in all our dough based recipes.

Now knead all ingredients together until the dough is smooth. At least 5 minutes with a stand mixer. The dough should not stick to the sides of the bowl or your hands, but it should feel slightly sticky and on press it should spring back softly. If its too wet add slowly more flour and if its too dry knead in more water, but this is much harder.

Cover the dough and let it rise on a warm spot until it doubles in size. After this put the dough on a well floured surface. Gently shape it rectangular and divide into 8 peaces. Form the pieces into buns and roll the seam together. Slightly flour the surface of the buns and cover them with clean wrap. Don’t add any pressure to the wrap and buns or else it will stick to the buns. Let it rise for another hour or two. Shape out a thin disc and add the cooled sloppy mass. Cringe the seam together and put the on a lined baking tray.

For the pretzel style sloppy bring 1 liter water to the boil and add 1 1/2 tbsp baking soda. Simmer each bun 30 seconds per side. Add coarse salt after its dried out a little bit. For burger style put egg-wash and sesame seeds on top or water and sliced cheese.

Bake them in the middle of an 180°C preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. After baking let them cool at least for 15 mins..

Enjoy!
