Bacon Potato Gratin
- 400g Potatoes
- 300g Bacon
- 300ml Cream
- 100ml Milk
- 200g Cheese
- Salt, Pepper
- Garlic Powder
- Oregano
Lets cook some creamy Bacon Potatoe Gratin.
First bake the Bacon on a lined baking sheet low and slow. Put the Bacon in the cold oven, turn it on and bake at ~200°C/390°F until nicely browned and crispy.
Meanwhile prep the Potatoes. Slice them about half an inch thick.
Mix the Cream and Milk in a pan and season with Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder and Oregano. Use some Nutmeg if you got some. Bring it to a low simmer and cook the Potatoes for about 15 minutes. This will help the Potatoes to get cooked through and the sauce will get a bit more creamier.
Now stack all up in a greased deep baking dish. First Potatoes then Bacon, Cheese and so on.
Finish with a thick layer of Cheese and bake for at least 30 minutes on ~200°C/390°F until done and golden brown.
If the Cheese is getting too dark lower the baking dish in the oven and cover with some sheets of aluminium foil.
Serve with some Spring Onions and Bacon Flakes. Or try Roasted Onions.
Enjoy!
